LTO Mission in Taiwan Successful-Mendoza

The Land Transportation Office reports the successful implementation of the pilot project to renew drivers licenses of OFWs in Taiwan.

Around 1,000 overseas Filipino workers in Taichung and Kaohsiung showed up to renew their expired or expiring driver's license, the LTO said in a press statement.

LTO Chief Vigor D. Mendoza II said the agency is consolidating all the feedback and observations from the two-day pilot implementation of the online driver's license renewal in Taiwan.

Mendoza said this will be used to implement the plan to bring the online driver's license renewal service to OFWs in the United States, several European countries, and the Middle East.

He assured OFWs the program to renew their licenses would be as fast and as comfortable as possible.

Department of Transportation Secretary Jaime J. Bautista earlier said online driver's license renewal is one of the goals of the Marcos administration.

It was not clarified if the goal of online driver's license renewal would include not only OFWs but all other licensed motorists. If not? It should.
