The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has opened a satellite
office at Robinson's Galleria in Ortigas to make it more convenient for
people needing to settle fines for traffic violations and other clearances.
Aside from accepting payment of fines for traffic violations, other
services provided by the MMDA satellite office include lifting of alarms
for drivers in the alarm list of the Land Transportation Office and
processing clearances verifying drivers have no pending traffic violations.
MMDA acting chairman Romando Artes said the satellite office will make
settlement of traffic fine-related concerns easier and more accessible to
the public.
The satellite office was launched following the signing of a memorandum
of agreement between the MMDA and Robinson's Land Corporation.
The new MMDA satellite office located at the Lingkod Pinoy Center at the
lower ground floor of Robinson's Galleria is open from Mondays to
Saturdays, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Making it easier for people to transact with government agencies is fine.
But some are asking: Do we really need to make it convenient for people to
pay fines for violating traffic regulations? Are the fines enough
punishment for making roads less safe?
